Welcome to Country Springs!
Core Essentials
Country Springs Elementary participates in the "Core Essentials" values program associated with Chick-fil-A Restaurants. Each month, a different value is presented to students at monthly assemblies and in the classroom, and is reinforced throughout the day. Your child should earn a couple of orange "value cards" during the year that entitle him or her to a free meal at Chick-fil-A for exhibiting a Core Essential value.

The Core Essential values for 2011 - 2012 are:

September--Knowledge                  February--Honor
October--Creativity                           March--Conviction
November--Gratitude                       April--Hope
December--Generosity                    May--Responsibility
January--Self-Control

Self-control is our essential value of the new year. We are asking students to do what they should do instead of what they might want to do.  This will entail thinking before acting, compromising, and relaxing when stressed.

When might a child need to show self-control? It takes self-control to complete daily homework, use technology for a reasonable amount of time, share, compromise, eat reasonable portions of a favorite food, not lash out at someone who is being mean, and to show continued responsibility. Martin Luther King, Jr. is our model this month as we consider self-control in action. In the face of taunts, threats, and violence, he didn't waiver in the demonstration of self-control as he spoke out against wrong.

Let's all model self-control at school and home!

School Lunches
Cafeteria News
Please note that Country Springs follows the REGULAR lunch menu on Wednesdays, not the district's Minimum Day Lunch menu. We serve a full lunch every weekday.
Attendance Counts!

Parents, attending school every day is important for all students.  Students with consistent daily attendance earn higher grades, are more involved with school activities, tend to have fewer discipline problems, and are better prepared for the future and job opportunities.

When a student misses class, the whole class is impacted.  In fact, the entire school suffers because each day that a student misses, the school loses approximately $29.78 in funding per absence.  Last year, the schools earned an additional $840,000 because there were fewer student absences than the year before.  That is approaching one million dollars in additional revenue because students did not stay home but came to school one additional day.
